Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is transmitted to the third-party company operating that tool. The partner processes the request and provides its results; Boone County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so we can respond. We keep such messages within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Ordinary server and analytics records can collect technical facts when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Referring website, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Small cookie files and analytics services help measure traffic, popular pages, and points where visits end. A browser can block cookies, although that choice may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Maintain site availability and speed
- Route a search request to the selected partner
- Diagnose and repair technical faults
- Measure which pages visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not create, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains how to reach the Boone County Sheriff, Boone County Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into third-party criminal histories or consumer reports. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes appearing on some pages. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and disclosure practices apply to information entered there. We do not control those practices, so review the partner policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Boone County offices, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Some advertising providers may also use their systems to measure activity across websites for targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will take steps to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Missouri law, including the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, RSMo §§407.010 et seq., may provide rights depending on the facts and the visitor's location. Requests may include:
- Obtaining a copy of personal data we retain
- Correcting inaccurate personal information
- Requesting deletion of retained data
- Opting out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, governs records of public governmental bodies, while RSMo §43.540 governs dissemination of Missouri criminal-history record information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government record custodian.
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as our practices or legal duties change. A revised policy takes effect when it is posted here with its new effective date.
